About us

Who we are.

Alberta Parents for Stronger Vaping Restrictions is a volunteer group of parents, caregivers, educators, health professionals, and community supporters in Alberta. We came together because the rules on youth-facing vaping products have not kept up with how the products are sold and marketed.

What we do

We share plain-language explainers for families. We write public submissions on Alberta legislation that touches vaping. We point families and school staff to resources from Health Canada, the Canadian Paediatric Society, the World Health Organization, and Alberta Health.

What we do not do

We do not sell tobacco, vapour, or nicotine products. We do not give medical or legal advice, and we do not speak for any government body.

How we work

Our materials are reviewed by participating parents, caregivers, and educators in the group, with input from health professionals who volunteer with us. Where we cite a figure or a recommendation, we link to the primary source. Where evidence is still developing, we say so.

Who can join

The coalition is open to Alberta residents who care about youth vaping prevention. You do not have to be a parent. Educators, health professionals, and community supporters are welcome. We ask only that you be 18 or older and that you understand our communications are informational.

Why we are focused on Bill 208

Most of the rules that decide what young people see and can buy come from the province. Alberta's Tobacco and Vaping Reduction Strategy sets the broad direction. Bill 208 is the most concrete chance in recent memory to update those rules in ways that match how families and schools actually experience vaping in Alberta.

On independence. We are an Alberta public-policy group focused on youth vaping prevention. We are not a government department and we do not speak for any government body. Where our priorities overlap with those of other groups, readers should assess our materials on their sources, reasoning, and policy recommendations.
