The question parents can keep asking
Alberta says its enforcement team responds to complaints and inspects retailers, according to Alberta rules and enforcement. Parents should ask how often those complaints identify a store, a peer, an online seller, or another adult source.
A practical parent checklist
- Ask schools how vaping incidents are recorded.
- Ask MLAs whether source-of-access data will be published.
- Ask enforcement agencies how parent complaints are followed up.
- Ask whether illegal sellers are being tracked separately from legal retailers.
Why this is not anti-enforcement
Parents can support stronger enforcement and still ask for better data. A restriction that does not reach the actual source of youth access will frustrate families quickly.
