Parent note ยท Alberta policy update

Parents Need a Source Map, Not a Slogan

If Alberta wants parents to trust Bill 208, it should show where young people are getting products and how the bill reaches those sources.

The missing map

Parents hear that youth vaping is a serious concern. That concern is real. But the practical question is usually missing: where are the products coming from?

If the answer is licensed stores, enforcement should show inspection failures and penalties. If the answer is friends, social selling, delivery, online sellers, or unlicensed supply, Alberta needs a different plan.

What parents should ask for

  1. source-of-access reporting in every public update;
  2. inspection results for stores near schools and youth gathering places;
  3. follow-up on online and informal resale channels;
  4. a review date that checks whether youth access actually declined.

A bill can be strict and still miss the source. Parents deserve the source map first.
